How DryMark Restoration San Diego Was Born in San Diego

We opened this branch in 2011, the same year the parent brand started, because San Diego needed something the other restoration companies weren’t offering: proof. Before we hung our shingle here, we watched a homeowner in Mission Hills get handed a $14,000 invoice for water damage that another crew had “fixed” twice already. The walls were still damp. The mold was back. The insurance adjuster denied the second claim because the first company had taken no moisture readings, no photos, no signed log - just a handwritten receipt and a handshake. That homeowner paid out of pocket for work that should have been covered, and we decided that night we wouldn’t let that happen in our city. We brought DryMark to San Diego because the brand’s system - daily drying logs, room-by-room moisture readings, photo documentation - was built by an adjuster who knew exactly what turns a restoration invoice into a paid claim. We promised to work to that standard here, with our own license, our own trucks, and our own name on every job.

Alicia Brennan’s Personal Connection to the Damage Restoration Trade

I didn’t stumble into this work. I was drawn to it because of what it isn’t: it isn’t theoretical, and it isn’t finished until a number says it’s finished. Before I led this branch, I spent years watching contractors guess at dryness - poking drywall with a bare hand, declaring rooms “good enough,” moving on to the next job while moisture lingered in wall cavities and under tack strips. The smell of that work stayed with me. Not the chemical smell of antimicrobial spray, but the sour, hidden smell of a job done halfway, the one that hits you three weeks later when a homeowner calls back in panic.

I learned the trade from a tradesman who trained me old-school: read the meter, write it down, sign it, date it. He worked with Injectidry systems and taught me that drying is a process you manage, not a hope you hold. The first time I pulled a baseboard in a flooded La Mesa ranch house and found black mold blooming behind it - the homeowner had no idea, had been told the room was dry - I felt something shift. This work means walking into someone’s worst day and being the person who can show them, in numbers and pictures, exactly what happened and exactly how we’ll fix it. That’s what gets me out of bed. If I weren’t doing this, I’d probably be in some other trade where evidence matters - maybe forensic accounting, maybe building inspection. I need to see the proof.

San Diego’s climate makes this work specific to here. The marine layer keeps moisture trapped longer than inland crews expect. We’ve learned which neighborhoods built before 1980 have the old plaster-and-lath that holds water like a sponge, and which new construction in Santee has OSB subflooring that delaminates before you know it’s wet. That knowledge only comes from doing the work here, year after year, reading the meters and writing it down.

Meet Alicia Brennan - The Person Behind Every Job

I’m Alicia Brennan, Owner and Founder of this branch. I’ve been in the restoration trade for over 15 years, trained in water damage mitigation, mold remediation, and structural drying through IICRC and RIA programs. What separates me from a corporate franchise technician is simple: I’m the one who answers when something goes wrong, and my license number is the one on your paperwork. I’m not rotating through a territory I don’t live in. I know which streets in Spring Valley flood first when the winter storms hit, and I know the adjusters at the major carriers who handle San Diego County claims.

Outside of work, I restore vintage motorcycles - a 1973 Honda CB350 in my garage right now - because it’s the same satisfaction: something broken, made right, with every step documented so the next person knows what was done. My commitment to you is personal. When we take your job, I see it through. Not a dispatcher. Not a rotating crew. Me.

Our Promise to San Diego Homeowners

Our values aren’t posters on a wall. They’re policies we enforce on ourselves.

Honest pricing, in writing, before we start. That’s Haven Standard Clause 1: flat price, written scope, written warranty. We learned this the hard way early on, when a homeowner in El Cajon called us in tears after another company added $3,800 in “discovered damage” halfway through a job. We don’t do that. The price you approve is the price you pay.

Quality equipment, specified in your scope. We use Injectidry hardwood drying systems and commercial-grade dehumidification because San Diego’s older homes in neighborhoods like North Park and Kensington need targeted drying, not guesswork. You get the equipment list in writing.

Standing behind every job with documentation. Every DryMark restoration leaves a drying log: daily moisture readings, room by room, signed and dated. If your adjuster questions the invoice, you have the evidence. That’s not a favor we do for you. It’s the standard we work to.

And our documentation system means you have proof of what we found and what we did, which is what turns a disputed claim into a paid one.

Rooted in San Diego

This branch operates from San Diego, and our service area covers the neighborhoods we actually know: the canyon-adjacent homes in Mission Valley that flood in winter storms, the coastal properties in Coronado dealing with salt-air corrosion, the mid-century ranches in La Mesa with original slab foundations that wick moisture differently than modern builds. We’re not a national call center pretending to be local. We’re Alicia Brennan’s team, with our license, our trucks, and our drying logs, working to the Haven Standard that DryMark established in 2011. The brand gives us the documentation system and the buying power to keep pricing honest. We give it the local knowledge and the personal accountability. That’s the deal.
